Heat = IT Disaster

Even if you’re a fan of summer, some of the heat we’ve been experiencing lately has been…a lot.

What you might not know though, is just how dangerous heat can be when it comes to your server room. A sever room (or “IT closet”) typically contains several components, including physical servers and switches, all of which create heat of their own. Add that heat to the hot temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately, and it can be a recipe for disaster! The optimal temperature for your server room is between 68 and 71 degrees Fahrenheit.

Server rooms that reach high temperatures run the risk of “frying” equipment. Your electronics simply cannot run their internal fans effectively enough to stay cool and remain functioning.

If your server room is not climate-controlled, talk to us about how to mitigate your risk and learn our suggestions on proper systems for your specific space.
